Your Cosmetic Dentist in Auckland

Sometimes we look in the mirror and see a smile we’re afraid to share due to the way it looks. It might be missing teeth, stains, chips, or crooked teeth. Being afraid to smile can cause lack of self confidence and impact your social life. Here at Northmed Dental, we believe that everyone deserves a beautiful smile. We are a full-service cosmetic dental practice, and we can help you get the smile that you want.

If you want a new smile along with a boost in confidence, give us a ring and come in for a free consultation. Here are some of the cosmetic dentistry services we provide:

Teeth Straightening

Having straight teeth and a correct bite reduce the chances of having dental issues in the future. Plus, it helps you to smile more confidently. When teeth are properly aligned, it’s easier to prevent plaque buildup, which can lead to gum disease. You’ll also be able to chew food properly and speak better.

At Northmed Dental, we offer many orthodontic treatment options, including traditional metal braces, and Invisalign trays. We’ll help you to decide which orthodontic treatment is best for you based on what’s going on with your bite, the misalignment and what you expect regarding treatment times and the final result. Whatever orthodontic treatment we determine is best for your individual case, your braces will straighten your teeth, improve your bite, improve your appearance, improve your oral health and help you feel better about yourself! Teeth Whitening Treatments

tooth whitening before and after

Teeth whitening treatments are transformational, adding a sparkle to your smile that can leave you with greater confidence. Teeth whitening treatments are a great option if you have stained teeth, perhaps as a result of smoking or drinking tea, coffee or alcohol – all of which can discolour them.

Whitening your teeth can be a great way to improve your smile, but it’s important to remember that these products lighten the teeth using a bleaching agent. It is therefore recommended that teeth whitening treatments are only carried out by trained dental professionals.

We will make custom-fit trays and provide bleaching gels for you to carry out the treatment at home.

Porcelain and Composite Resin Veneers

Veneers are thin coverings made of porcelain that are bonded to the front of your teeth. Veneers have improved over time and can now be matched to your existing teeth so that no one will be able to notice. The treatment requires shaving off a part of your tooth. Veneers are one of the most versatile restorations available for enhancing your smile. Veneers can be used to:
veneers
  • Close diastemas (spaces between the teeth)
  • Restore broken or chipped teeth
  • Cover unsightly, stained or washed out fillings
  • Whitening permanently stained or discoloured teeth
  • Correcting uneven or crooked teeth

How Are Veneers Different from Fillings or Crowns?

A composite resin filling is used when only a small amount of tooth structure needs replacing or repair. A full crown is indicated when a tooth has had root canal treatment or when a substantial amount of the entire tooth structure (enamel) has been lost. A porcelain veneer is indicated when a portion of the front surface of a tooth needs a “face lift.”

How Are Porcelain Veneers Created?

Similar to a resin bonding procedure, veneers are attached directly to the existing tooth structure.

We take an impression of your tooth to make an exact replica. During your appointment, we treat your tooth with a mild conditioning solution. Before the veneer is placed, we apply a tooth coloured liquid bonding material, which helps the veneer adhere to your natural teeth.

What to Expect

Veneers can last for years, depending on how well you take care of them. Because veneers are stronger than simple bonding, they are also more resistant to stains and chipping. However, it is important to maintain regular oral hygiene, to avoid bad habits such as biting nails or chewing ice and to visit us regularly for routine cleaning and exams. These precautions will help ensure that your veneers will last a long time and keep looking as good as new.

We use the highest quality porcelain and we will recommend the right treatment approach for you.

Cosmetic Dentistry and all of the procedures that we can offer will can give you the smile you’ve always wanted, and in most cases there is very little that cannot be accomplished, from a full set of implanted teeth to a full set of porcelain veneers, no matter what the challenge is, our dentists at Northmed Dental will give you another reason to smile.
