Cosmetic Dental Services

At Northmed Dental, our passion for dentistry and extraordinary patient care ensures that you receive a comfortable experience along with the highest quality results. We strive to help each patient achieve the healthiest and best looking smile possible. Our smiles are a huge reflection on how others see us and how we feel about ourselves.

Many of our patients come to us because they wish to improve their smile. We offer a free consultation to learn about how you can get the smile of your dreams leveraging the latest dental technology and materials. Working together, we build a customised treatment plan to achieve and maintain the optimal level of oral health and a brilliant smile.

Invisalign Clear Aligners

Have you ever wanted a straighter smile, but didn’t want to deal with the look of traditional metal braces? Invisalign is a time-tested revolutionary alternative to braces that provides results that are just as good as braces but without the need for wires and brackets.

For adults, if you thought orthodontic treatment is only for teenagers, you will be happy to know that you can have straight teeth without anyone knowing that you are wearing your braces. Invisalign is virtually invisible to the casual viewer, so your smile will be bright and ready for your day-to-day demands.

At our Mairangi Bay dental clinic, we offer Invisalign clear braces that provide better results than traditional metal braces without the discomfort and inconvenience. If your smile:

  • Is making you feel self-conscious.
  • Contributing to TMJ pain.
  • Causing problems with your bite.
  • Has gaps in the front teeth you wish to close up.
  • A front tooth is turned around.

Invisalign’s clear braces can help reduce or eliminate these issues.

Invisalign trays are custom made to fit your teeth, making them virtually unnoticeable when around other people. We provide our patients with a sequence of trays, each slightly different than the one before. Each new aligner provides a slight resistance to the teeth which forces them to move into the proper alignment over time. Invisalign is a popular choice for both teens and adults to achieve the smile they have always wanted without feeling self-conscious about wearing braces.

A lot of teenagers opt for orthodontic treatment because it’s a lot easier to move teeth now rather than wait for their adult years. Having that in place sets them up for not just a nice smile, but a properly functioning bite which avoids dental issues like TMJ down the road. Students from Rangitoto College can literally walk to our clinic for their Invisalign appointment.

There’s never been a better time to straighten your teeth with the most advanced clear aligner in the world. Our office is a certified platinum provider of Invisalign clear aligners, which give you a clear, convenient, and comfortable option to achieve the smile you’ve always wanted.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic bonded to the front surface of your teeth. Due to their simplicity and advanced materials, veneers are a popular choice for improving your smile. Once they’ve been bonded to the teeth, veneers look just like healthy and normal teeth. Another benefit of porcelain veneers is that they are highly resistant to staining from coffee, tea, soft drinks or even cigarette stains.

When you choose to have dental veneers to improve your smile, you’ll want to ensure that you use a dentist with experience and advanced cosmetic dental skills. All of our cosmetic dentists at Northmed have undergone intense training in this field to ensure you get the perfect result. Each case is uniquely designed to match and enhance the characteristics of each patient’s smile, thus the need for a precise fitting and giving you the right look.

The porcelain veneer is the dental industry’s preferred choice when it comes to creating a brilliant smile. With proper care, porcelain veneers will give you an awesome white smile for over ten years. Each of our dentists ensure that your veneers are crafted from the highest quality porcelain material so you can enjoy your smile for years to come. Read more about porcelain veneers here.

  • Chewing tobacco.
  • Smoking.

Our professional tooth whitening solutions have the ability to make an amazing transformation of the appearance of your teeth. Professional grade whitening systems can whiten teeth by six shades or more vs. around two shades with solutions bought from the store.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns and dental bridges are a proven and reliable solution for correcting major dental problems caused by accidents and general wear and tear. High-grade porcelain or porcelain bonded to gold has proven to be the best choice of material for a crown. In the event you’ve had a dental trauma, or where teeth have broken away through excessive wear, or as the result of old fillings breaking, crowns and/or bridges can be used as a long-term restorative solution.

Dental crowns have many benefits, including:

  • They look like your natural teeth.
  • Fixes functional chewing problems.
  • Restoring the structure of a tooth after a root canal.
  • Strong replacements for damaged or worn teeth
  • Offers support to misshapen teeth or badly broken teeth

Pain from the back molars may be due to cracks in the tooth. A crown over the affected tooth relieves the pain and allows a return of full dental function for these teeth. Read more about porcelain crowns here.

Restorative Procedures – Dental Implants

Dental implant technology is a proven method to replace missing teeth. False teeth or bridges have historically been the only viable solution, however with advancements in dental implants, they are considered a permanent alternative to removable partial or complete dentures. Implants have advanced over the years and now provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances.

A dental implant is made with an artificial titanium root and post which are surgically placed into the jaw bone by our dentist.  The implant is precisely placed for maximum effect and stability. Artificial teeth, usually a crown, are then attached to the implants for a very natural looking smile.

Dental implants have been proven to be very durable and strong, functioning just like your natural teeth.

Reasons to consider dental implants include:

  • Restores chewing, speech, and digestion.
  • Replaces one or more missing teeth and suppors the jaw structure.
  • Restores a patient’s confident smile.
  • Resolves bite problems or joint pain when teeth have shifted into missing tooth space.

Dental implants are a great solution if you have lost one or more teeth to disease or decay, and you’d prefer not to have dentures/false teeth. They look and feel just like your natural teeth.

Children’s Dental Services

As an adult, you know the benefits of visiting the dentist twice a year for a cleaning and exam. For your children, these check-ups are also important to their dental health as well. We recommended that your kids have their first dental exam take place by age one or when their first tooth appears. At Northmed Dental we’re proud to offer top notch pediatric dentistry near Mairangi Bay, ensuring the best dentists are taking care of your kid’s dental health and wellness.

Anyone can develop a cavity, however kids have a higher risk for them. They are still building their oral care habits such as daily brushing and flossing, but they are more likely to have a sugary diet. By having regular visits to the dentist, it’s beneficial to their oral health. During their visit, we’ll show them how to properly care for their teeth as well as a fluoride treatment or dental sealants for an added layer of protection for their teeth.

Our approach to your child’s first dental visit will depend on their age and level of emotional maturity. We take the time to personalise their experience so that it’s an enjoyable and comfortable experience. The appointment will be short and very gentle as we make a careful examination of the teeth, gum tissue, and jaw, to look for any developmental problems as early as possible. Our dental team also provides parents with dedicated guidelines regarding good oral hygiene practices at home, how to prevent cavities, how to handle teething, and much more.
